This policy explains how PolishPath ("the app", "we") handles information. It covers the
PolishPath Android application (package com.polishpath.app) and the PolishPath
web app / PWA. Both are built from the same code and behave the same way.
By using PolishPath you agree to this policy. If you do not agree with it, please stop using the app.
None. PolishPath does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal identifier. There is no account system, no login, and no backend service that receives your data.
We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash-reporting services, tracking cookies, advertising identifiers, or any other tracking technology. Nothing you do in the app is reported back to us.
To remember where you are in the course, the app saves data locally in your device's browser
storage (localStorage). This data never leaves your device unless you
deliberately export it yourself (see section 6). It consists of:
| What is stored | Why |
|---|---|
| Learning progress — words learned and their mastery level, completed lessons, grammar topics read, quiz results, daily streak, daily goal, and the dates you were active | To show your statistics, keep your streak, and unlock levels |
| Your current level (A1–B2) and which levels are unlocked | To show the right content |
| Appearance settings — theme (dark / light), text size, haptic feedback on or off | To keep the app looking the way you set it |
| Reminder settings — whether daily reminders are on, and the time you chose | To schedule study reminders on your device |
| Small interface flags — the date of your last backup, which idiom the home screen showed last, whether you have already seen the swipe hint | To avoid repeating hints and to remind you to back up |
This data is technical and educational in nature. It contains no personal identifiers and is not linked to you as an individual.
PolishPath requests the minimum set of permissions it needs to work:
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
INTERNET |
Loading the interface component library from a public content delivery network, and fetching app updates. No personal data is sent. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS |
Showing the optional daily study reminder. It is requested only at the moment you switch reminders on, and the app works fully without it. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, WAKE_LOCK |
Restoring your reminder schedule after the device restarts, and delivering the reminder at the time you chose. |
Reminders are local notifications: your device's own alarm system triggers them at the time you picked. They are not push notifications, so no server, no device token and no account is involved, and the reminder text never leaves your phone.
PolishPath does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, SMS, call logs, or the files on your device — apart from the single file you pick yourself when exporting or importing a backup.
PolishPath contains no third-party SDK that collects data about you. A few technical services are nevertheless involved in delivering the app and, like any internet request, they can see standard connection information such as your IP address, device type and browser user-agent:
cdn.jsdelivr.net. Only those component files are requested; nothing about you
or your progress is sent. See
jsDelivr's privacy policy.
All learning content (words, grammar, lessons) ships with the app as static files. Studying, taking quizzes and reading grammar all work fully offline.
The app can export your progress to a JSON file (Settings → Backup). On Android the system file picker asks where to save it, and the file is written only to the location you choose; on the web version your browser downloads it.
The backup file contains the progress data described in section 3 and nothing else. It is not uploaded anywhere — we never see it. Once the file exists it is yours to manage: if you copy it to a cloud drive or send it to someone, that transfer is covered by that service's privacy policy, not this one.
Importing a backup reads the file you select and replaces your local progress with it. No other file on your device is read.
PolishPath is suitable for all ages and contains no user-generated content, chat, social features or advertising. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. It is designed to satisfy COPPA and similar rules by simply not gathering data.
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. The data on your device stays there until you remove it, which you can do at any time:
Both actions erase your progress permanently and cannot be undone. Export a backup first if you want to keep it.
Privacy laws such as the GDPR (EU / EEA), the UK GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA (California) give you rights over personal data a company holds about you: access, correction, deletion, portability, and objecting to processing.
PolishPath does not collect or process personal data, so there is no record for us to hand over, correct or erase. In practice you already exercise all of those rights yourself: your data sits on your device, you can export it as a portable JSON file at any time, and you can delete it in full as described above. We do not sell or share personal information, and never have.
Because nothing is transmitted to or stored on a server, there is no central database that could be breached. Your data is protected by your device's own security — screen lock, disk encryption and app sandboxing. Anyone with physical access to an unlocked device could open the app and see your progress, so keep your device locked.
If the app ever gains a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Significant changes will be announced in the app or in the store listing's release notes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
